About the Goannas Women’s Ice Hockey Club Inc

The Goannas Women’s Ice Hockey Club (GWIHC) is a non-profit incorporated association governed by a volunteer management committee focusing on the development of female players of all ages and abilities. The committee comprises individuals with experience in coaching, sport management, law and business. The Brisbane Goannas have been our representative team in the Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League for 5 years.

The Gecko’s Program was created to cater to our junior players and developing future senior Goannas players. These players are invited to participate in our on and off-ice trainings, be involved in fundraising activities and play a supportive role at our home games. Please check out the Gecko’s section on our team page for profiles of our development squad players.

This season, we are also committed to increasing awareness of men’s prostate cancer and fund raising for the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre – Queensland. Check out the news section for more information.

Mission Statement

To provide a team that can compete in the AWIHL, ensuring continued development of high level players who may aspire to represent Australia as selected members of the selects or national team.
